How you do dat?

Now, next question, how do I get those links to appear in a Buzznet blog?

To my mind, the great advantage of a Buzznet blog is the ability to link the text under each of those photos to other places in the blog and elsewhere on the Internet.

In order to do this you have to write in the code to the links.

As an example, here's the code that produces the link to the Index at the bottom of this page:

<P><A HREF="http://webpres2005.buzznet.com/user/?id=776980">http://webpres2005.buz znet.com/user/?id=776980 </A></P>

It may not be necessary, but as a convention and to ensure correct presentation of the text, when I use HTML I set off everything I want to be in a separate paragraph in a <P> package. That means each unit of text that I want separated by a blank line is enclosed in <P> ... </P>. So much for that part of the code.

The only other bit of mumbo jumbo is where I want the links. The code for this is all enclosed in <A> ... </A> tags.

This A tag has an argument, HREF, so the tag begins <A HREF ... which means Hypertext reference .

The A HREF is set equal to a URL which appears in quote marks (the browser knows where the URL begins and ends when it encounters each quote mark)

The first part of the tag ends with the > bracket, so the pattern is <A rel="nofollow" xHREF="url_goes_here">

Next comes the text that you want to appear in your document and be hyperlinked. I've simply repeated the URL here but you could also write something like 'to find out more, click here'. Then you close the tag with a </A>. So the pattern for the complete link would be something like:

<A rel="nofollow" xHREF="url_goes_here">to find out more, click here</A>

Just two more things, and then you'll know all that I do ...

If I want the link to appear in a new browser window (as I often do when linking away from my blog) I alter the syntax like this:

<A rel="nofollow" xHREF="url_goes_here" TARGET="_blank">to find out more, click here</A>

If you can't remember _blank then TARGET="new" usually works as well.

The second thing, when linking back to other parts of my Buzznet blog, you need to notice that each pic in the blog has a unique ID url; e.g.

http://webpres2005.buzznet.com/user/?id=776980

That's the unique link to the index page of my Buzznet blog. I got that URL by visiting the site while not logged on and clicking on the photos and finding the URL for each, which always follows that pattern.
